| Summary | 0000365: Can you make this app be open source? | ||||
| Description | Can you please make this app be open source? I would like to be able to view the source code. Nonprogrammers and those unqualified to use Xcode can continue to buy the compiled version on the app store. Thanks | ||||

I understand VD seems abandoned but I'm the only developer and at this time my life requires other priorities, I love VD, it was created at first for myself and when I realized other people could appreciate it I published on MAS for few bucks I'm the only developer, I'm the project owner and I have no time so releasing as open source sounds good but not for me, nobody buys a so specific application, occasional users don't buy apps |

Actually, I think this app would be a good candidate for open source, as others may make contributions, given that you have little time. If you make it open source, I might be interested in trying to extend it to compare names and lengths of extended resources with a checkbox next to "Check Resource Fork", especially if the app is written in Swift. I might even explore the idea in ticket 358 (Proposal for Efficient Compare over network) as well. |

Thank you for posting the code on github. I am curious, can you tell me the versions of MacOS and XCode you used to run the build? Thanks. |

App compiled on Sequoia (15.7.2) with latest XCode version (26.1) The app runs on Ventura (13.5) and above |

I downloaded this and ran the build with Xcode 16.4 in Sequoia 15.3.1, with no errors. Running the app for a cursory test comparing two folders revealed no obvious issues. Thank you for publishing clean code that is ready for anyone to tinker with or to add features. I did notice that the version number of the generated app says 1.0, when you refer to it as 2.0 on the GitHub to distinguish it from your earlier commercial versions. |
