Summary0000378: New Feature Request for supporting OpenDocument Format
DescriptionI use VisualDiffer mainly for file comparison, and it works great for files in supported document formats, including text (.txt) and Word (.docx), but I see that OpenDocument Format (.odt) is not supported. I would find it convenient and helpful, if VisualDiffer could also support ODT format. (Plus, if I may say so, it only seems right for the open-source software like VisualDiffer to support the OpenDocument Format, if it already support Microsoft format.)

The MS format support is very simple (maybe too simple) and it is based on Apple implementation on OS, no special work thanks to Apple SDK.
Adding other formats at this time is not planned and I prefer to focus on plain text comparison

I would like to add support for CSV or spreadsheet formats (MS Excel, Open Office Calc) to compare single cells not the entire line but this feature request a lot of time so I never implemented it

PS
This bug tracking will be closed very soon because, since VisualDiffer is now open source, everything is concentrated on GitHub.
I understand that creating a new GitHub account can be annoying, but if you already have one, please use GitHub because it makes it easier for me to organize reports.

Some time ago, there was a reason (which I cannot remember now) for obtaining a GitHub account, but I have not done anything with it, mainly because I didn't know I could interact with the developer at GitHub. I have tried leaving this feature request as a low priority. I can understand if you want to prioritise text comparison for now, but I still think supporting other document formats would enhance the usefulness of this app for many users.
